I began working with fused glass several years ago as an outlet to my daily analytical work as an Engineering Director. And it was love at first sight as I let myself go with the moment to add color and design. I fell in love with the creativity it allows experimenting each day and challenging myself with new techniques, mediums and colors and often not knowing what to expect until I open the kiln at the end of its cycle. What fun!
Up until now, I have focused on sharing my glass with friends and family offering them pieces I made that they liked as it is an awesome feeling to see the look on someone's face when they would see a piece they like.
I make all of my glass in my home studio with a goal of constantly exploring and learning new things hopefully resulting in a beautiful and functional piece. All of the pieces are food safe. Each of my pieces has been properly annealed to ensure durability.
Devtrification - whitish scum which forms on glass rather than a glossy finish
Frit - small pieces of ground up glass, powder being the smallest size
Stringers - glass rods which typically come in either 1mm or 2mm diameter
